They collaborated…and people acted like they were heading up the second Holocaust.
Chris Brown stood trial and did his community service. Therefore he paid his debt to society. People keep saying “He never publicly apologized,” but in my opinion he doesn’t owe anyone an apology except Rihanna and apparently he has already done that. Did he hit you? Was that your life idol? I doubt it. So why do you need an apology like he beat you up? People kill me holding public figures to standards that they never agreed to uphold. Bill Clinton didn’t need apologize for cheating on Hilary. That doesn’t bother me in the slightest if he is going to run the country effectively. The man across the street doesn’t need to apologize to you if he cheats on his wife so why is the president any different. They are humans not anything more or anything less. Chris Brown is a man who made a mistake. It is a mistake that I think is detestable and wrong. As a matter of fact my father works closely with the House of Ruth to battle situations just like the one that Chris Brown and Rihanna were in. But like I said, Chris paid his debt to society and he owes me nothing more than that. If I like his music (and I usually do) then I will crank it up. If I don’t I will turn it down, but I won’t boycot him forever (he is the Number 1 R&B album on iTunes and has the top three spots in the Top Ten so I don’t think he will miss your album sale very much).
If a man makes a mistake and asks for forgiveness then his sin is erased in the eyes of God. God remembers it no more. We don’t know for a fact that he has asked for forgiveness, but we don’t know that he didn’t either. It is not our job to keep bringing it up and try to crucify him for it. I don’t agree with men hitting women. I am totally against it. But that is what he did, not what he is. Hate the sin not the sinner. If Rihanna has found a way to forgive him, whether it be in friendship or a relationship it is not our business. If we intend to stick our nose in it anyway then we need to be praying that all is well between them. I have never seen so many people hold on to a grudge about something that didn’t happen to them.
Part of the problem is that there are a lot of women who have been in abusive relationships that have not forgiven their beaters and don’t feel like they should. That is dangerous. Do you want to wind up in hell because you won’t forgive someone of a sin and then they end up in heaven because they reconciled with God? You cannot just hold on to things and live your life with hatred in your heart. Chris Brown is not accountable to any of us and neither is Rihanna. They are both accountable to the Lord. If they want to make an entire CD together and get married and have 30 kids, it isn’t any of our business.
This is just my opinion. I am sure that I will receive some level of hatred for it, but I am entitled to it. It won’t change so don’t bother inboxing me because I won’t read it.
For the record: I don’t personally like the “Birthday Cake” song. It is too sexual.
