Text 9 Feb 2 notes Hide and Seek with the Lord

It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.

-Proverbs 25:2

This Scripture refers to the revelation of God’s will to us, through the Holy Spirit, and in his word, where there are many things concealed in parables, allegories, metaphors, similitudes, etc. It must be seriously studied to be understood. The reason that things are concealed is so that they are more valuable once you finally reveal those things. Think about when you have lost something and you need to find it. Your phone for example. Suddenly it becomes the most important thing to you. The longer it is lost, the more important it is to you. Or think about pirates chasing after lost treasures. They often risked their lives so that they could obtain something that was lost. Or even an Easter Egg hunt. The eggs were not hidden from you maliciously. They were hidden so that you would appreciate the treat more once you found it, so that you could get out and have fun while exercising. Reading the Word and revealing the mysteries of God and His will for your life can be exciting. It is “the glory of kings”. In other words it brings you glory as a Christian and a child of God. At times in the Bible, prophecies are partially concealed; and we cannot fully know their meaning till their accomplishment; and then the glory of God’s wisdom and providence will be more evident, when we see the event correspond so particularly and exactly with the prediction. Indeed there are sure things that will not be revealed fully to us until we are taken into eternity with God and we can fully appreciate their goodness.

Sometimes I look back at my life and realize that certain events or things that I went through was God intentionally setting me up for a blessing down the road. When I met the lady who would ultimately help get me into grad school, I had no idea that two years later she would be such an integral part of my life. Had it not been for her I would have had to move back home away from my girlfriend, my church family, my fraternity brothers and my friends. I would have been in Dothan living in complete uncertainty about life. But because God had put me in the right place at the right time I was able to be blessed. I was past the application deadline and only partially qualified according to man’s standards. But God justified and qualified me. He had a path that I was to be set on and because I was walking in His will everything worked out for me. As soon as everything came to fruition I immediately realized how amazing God was. He had moved in my life and taken care of something that wasn’t even going to be an issue until two years later.

This is why it is imperative that we have a relationship with God. He is an on time God (in come cases an early God), but if you are not walking with Him so that He can address the issue then do not blame Him when you have to suffer. You have to spend time with God to understand Him. He hides some of His wonder from us so that we can discover it and love Him even more!
